In-Aisle Price Label Printing for Retailers

Posted by Erin Hodges On November - 28 - 2011

Is your re-labeling and markdown process as efficient as it could be?  Are your employees spending valuable time going back and forth between a stationary printer?  In-aisle printing from wireless mobile printers closes the loop between pricing strategy and execution so you can increase efficiency and better utilize labor.  With a mobile printer and handheld mobile computer you can quickly and accurately prepare markdown labels, audit shelf prices and print new product or shelf labels right in the aisle.

DecisionPoint’s partner Zebra Technologies has created an ROI calculator so you can see what kind of cost savings you can realize after moving from a fixed printer configuration to a mobile printing solution.  Try out the Mobile Retail ROI Calculator today.

QR Code Safety

Posted by Erin Hodges On November - 23 - 2011

About a year ago I provided information about the growing popularity of QR codes and the ways that they can be used to enhance the shopping experience.  According to market research firm comScore, 14 million Americans scanned a QR code in June.  However, consumers must be careful to only scan QR codes from trusted sources.

According to a recent article in the Denver Post, Russian software researchers at Kaspersky Lab uncovered a malicious QR code for the first time on a Russian website.  And this digital scamming could reach the U.S. if it hasn’t already.  While QR codes offer consumers access to on-demand information and promotions, experts caution that you shouldn’t just scan any QR code that you see.  Make sure it is from a trusted source, such as those that appear on product packaging or in magazines.

Mobile Device Retail Traffic on the Rise

Posted by Erin Hodges On November - 14 - 2011

Holiday shopping is upon us and according to recent analytics-based findings by IBM, this November an unprecedented 15 percent of people in the U.S. that will be logging onto a retailer’s website are expected to do so from a mobile device.  In fact, according to IBM, record numbers of consumers will shift their shopping from the PC to their mobile device this holiday season. In October nearly 11 percent of people used a mobile device to visit a retailer’s site, up from 4.2 percent in October 2010.

The shift from PCs to mobile devices is an opportunity for retailers to personalize shopping experiences and drive loyalty with tailored promotions such as mobile coupons.
