Posted by Erin Hodges On September - 30 - 2011

At the beginning of the year, VDC Research Group listed 2D imagers as one of the top 5 trends for the bar code solution market in 2011, saying that “mobile marketing initiatives and continued investment in both retail and industrial use environments will be key drivers for 2D imaging solutions in 2011.”  And VDC expects the investment in 2D imagers to outpace laser scanners and linear imagers in the coming years.

Recycling with Kiosks

Posted by Erin Hodges On September - 14 - 2011

In past posts I’ve provided information about the benefits of kiosks in retail and also a variety of other industries such as healthcare kiosks and hospitality kiosks.  Recycling kiosks are the new trend in kiosk applications and they’re not only providing benefits to businesses, but also the environment.

Recycling kiosks are designed for on-the-go recycling and aren’t intended for bulk recycling, but instead provide a way for users to quickly recycle single bottles and cans and earn rewards.  Simply scan the items bar code at the kiosk to identify the recyclable item, drop the item in the holding bin and receive reward points.  Users can also print coupon rewards via the kiosk and receipts for recycling transactions.
