A few weeks back we announced that DecisionPoint would be joining Motorola Solutions in their partner booth during the National Retail Federation Annual Convention and EXPO.  If you’re attending NRF 2012, be sure to stop by Booth #1702 and visit with DecisionPoint in Pod #29 Jan. 16-17.

Apparel RFID Growth

A new market report on companiesandmarkets.com titled “Apparel RFID 2011-2021” that provides a detailed analysis and 10 year forecasts of apparel RFID, reports that apparel RFID will grow at double the rate of the overall RFID market through the next ten years.  According to the report, the RFID tagging of apparel is now the largest and fastest growing application of RFID in retailing, the retail supply chain and associated industries. The report forecasts that the market for tagging retail apparel will grow to demand 20 billion RFID tags annually in 2021.

Apparel RFID improves the tracking of inventory, prevents out-of-stocks and increases efficiency. See for yourself, check out this video from Motorola Solutions that demonstrates just how powerful retail RFID solutions are.

Fast and Accurate Bar Code Scanning in a Tiny Footprint

Motorola Android Tablet Beta Testing

I just read an interesting article from Engadget that featured information about a new, rugged Android tablet being developed by Motorola.  This information was passed to Engadget by an anonymous source and it appears that Motorola is in the early stages of developing an enterprise tablet and beta testing is scheduled to begin October of this year.  Preliminary specifications show that the 7-inch tablet looks like it will feature:

  • Rugged design that can withstand 4 ft. drops
  • 1.3MP front-facing camera with video and 8MP rear-facing camera with illumination and aiming
  • Signature capture

It will be exciting to learn more about this new device before it hits the market, so stay tuned.
