  1. Cloud-based solutions don’t require any upfront capital equipment purchases.
  2. Maintenance and updates are automatically taken care of by the service provider.
  3. Cloud computing solutions are easy to implement.
  4. Cloud computing is highly-scalable.  As your applications grow, you can add capacity as needed.

What is Cloud Computing?

Posted by Erin Hodges On January - 16 - 2012

A common and growing trend for businesses across all types of industries is to make the move to cloud computing.  In fact, a recent study conducted by Gartner reported that the cloud computing market is expected to reach $150 billion by 2013.

So what exactly is cloud computing?  Cloud computing delivers applications via the internet, which are accessed from web browsers and desktop and mobile apps, while the business software and data are stored on servers at a remote location.  According to InfoWorld, cloud computing encompasses any subscription-based or pay-per-use service that, in real-time over the Internet, extends IT’s existing capabilities.

Software as a Service (SaaS) Showing Strong Growth

Posted by Erin Hodges On August - 5 - 2011

Leading research firm Gartner released a forecast in June saying that worldwide Software as a Service (SaaS) revenue is forecast to reach $12.1 billion in 2011, a 20.7 percent increase from 2010. Gartner estimates that 75 percent of current SaaS delivery, as measured by revenue, could be regarded as cloud services, and this could exceed 90 percent by 2015 as the SaaS model matures and converges with cloud service models. SaaS is a low cost, subscription-based way for businesses to obtain rights to use software and offers numerous benefits:

  • Minimal up front capital expenditure because it is subscription-based
  • Rapid implementation
  • Worry-free, complete end-to-end solution
  • New functionality can be added at minimal cost
