DecisionPoint Systems Delivers Mobile Proof-of-Delivery Computing System to SureXpress

“The productivity improvements we’ve realized by deploying rugged devices far outweighs the initial cost,” says SureXpress CEO

Foothill Ranch, CA — January 4, 2011– DecisionPoint Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:DNPI), a leading provider of Enterprise Mobility and RFID solutions, today announced that it has successfully delivered mobile proof-of-delivery (“POD”) functionality to delivery drivers at SureXpress, a regional courier and freight company based in Oklahoma City, OK.

SureXpress specializes in ensuring overnight, same-day and two-day delivery of medical and veterinary specimens, x-rays, pharmaceuticals, legal documents, payroll, automotive parts, hazardous waste, and a variety of other important items. SureXpress upgraded from a paper-based tracking system to reduce errors and ensure secure handling of sensitive deliveries, but soon realized that the devices they deployed weren’t rugged enough for their field workers. This resulted in unacceptable downtime. To restore productivity, SureXpress decided to make the move to more rugged devices designed for use in nearly any environment. DecisionPoint took an active role in helping SureXpress through this thought process, analysis and the final decision.

DecisionPoint configured and deployed rugged mobile computers and also created the customized software image that runs each mobile computer. It is this software “Gold Image” that, when combined with SureXpress’ existing POD software, created the mobile functionality to automate the POD with complete bar code scanning, signature capture, and image capture for SureXpress in a rugged, mobile form-factor. These services are components of DecisionPoint’s Up and Running service offering and can be ordered in one easy-to-understand bundle that ensures deployments are successful right out-of-the-box.

“SureXpress is very pleased with the implementation. It has dramatically improved productivity as well as compliance scan rates,” said David Sloan, CEO for SureXpress. Danny Cunningham, General Manager of SureXpress added, “Tom Koenen, an industry veteran and Senior Account Executive with DecisionPoint, was a pleasure to work with and we couldn’t be more pleased with the rugged solution and DecisionPoint’s thought leadership, support and services throughout the deployment.”

“We are proud to have delivered the rugged hardware that has enabled SureXpress to improve productivity and meet compliance standards,” stated Brent Felker, DecisionPoint’s Vice President of Field Mobility. “The increased durability of the devices will deliver numerous benefits to their customers and we are happy we could help with the solution.”
