Learn more about MobileArc Proof of Delivery solutionsDecisionPoint Systems, Inc. (OTCBB:DNPI) announced yesterday that they have successfully delivered mobile proof-of-delivery (POD) functionality to delivery drivers at SureXpress, a regional courier and freight company based in Oklahoma City, OK.  SureXpress upgraded from a paper-based tracking system to reduce errors and ensure secure handling of sensitive deliveries, but soon realized that the devices they deployed weren’t rugged enough for their field workers. This resulted in unacceptable downtime. To restore productivity, SureXpress decided to make the move to more rugged devices designed for use in nearly any environment. DecisionPoint took an active role in helping SureXpress through this thought process, analysis and the final decision.

Capture images and add geostamps for confirmation of work completedA geostamp is much like a time stamp, but it records spatial data and typically includes information about latitude, longitude and elevation.  Providing your field workers with a mobile device that features GPS technology and a high resolution camera enables them to append photographs with a time stamp as well as this spatial data.  Geostamping provides accountability of field operations and confirmation that work has been completed at the right place and the right time.  Geostamping is typically used for:

Fleet Management Data Improves Operations

Posted by Erin Hodges On November - 29 - 2010

Improve operations with real-time data provided by a fleet management solutionFleet management solutions provide valuable information about your fleet and drivers that can be used to improve operations.  Real-time information about vehicle usage, driver behavior and fuel consumption help you determine where your highest costs are and what areas of your operation can be improved to deliver more benefit to your customers.  With mobile solutions such as GPS tracking, Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) and wireless mobile devices you can begin measuring performance in real-time.  Automatic alerts provide you with the hard data you need to begin making improvements.  Common alerts include:

  • Excessive engine idle-are your vehicles running for too long, but not headed anywhere?  Educate your drivers on the costs of excessive engine idle to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption.
  • Mileage reports-help you determine if you need to improve routing so you can complete more jobs per day and reduce fuel usage.  Also provides insight into after-hours vehicle usage.
  • Driver alerts-increase the safety of your drivers and reduce insurance costs with alerts that indicate speeding, seatbelt use and more.
