Mobile Solutions for Quality Control

Posted by Erin Hodges On December - 15 - 2010

Increase efficiency with real-time information about job site inspections and quality standards. Many industries require quality control supervisors to travel to job sites to ensure that projects are meeting quality standards and are proceeding according to schedule.  Paper processes for these inspections are time consuming to conduct and also increase the time that supervisors must spend on-site reviewing paperwork.  By utilizing rugged mobile devices to conduct the inspections, data is sent in real-time so supervisors can review checklists and documentation from the back office.  While on-site visits may still be required, the amount of time spent at each site is reduced, which enables more sites to be visited each day.  DecisionPoint’s MobileArc™ Field Inspection solutions provide everything you need to eliminate paper processes and increase the efficiency and accuracy of quality control reviews.

Consumer vs. Enterprise Navigation Solutions

Posted by Erin Hodges On January - 14 - 2010

Enterprise Navigation SolutionsNowadays it seems like everyone has a GPS device in their car, but there are some significant differences between consumer GPS navigation and enterprise navigation systems.  Enterprise navigation systems are specialized for customers with large fleets and are designed to improve driver and dispatcher productivity.  Typical features that are tailored to large fleets include:

  • Weight and width restriction routing
  • Integrated HazMat routing
  • Practical, shortest and toll avoidance routing
  • Specialized points of interest-truck stops, rest areas, weigh stations and fuel locations

Unlike consumer GPS navigation systems that require a dedicated device, enterprise navigation systems can run on mobile devices that fleets are already using for their business solution.  Additionally, when a turn-by-turn enterprise navigation system is combined with a GPS tracking solution it only requires one data plan, lowering operational costs.

Security Service SolutionsIn our Nov. 25th post we described how a DecisionPoint solution helped a proof of delivery and yard management business increase productivity, efficiency and customer satisfaction.  Today I’d like to take a look at how a MobileArc Security Service Solution helped a large security firm do the same.

DecisionPoint designed a solution for a large security service firm that provided:

  • Constant communication
  • Real-time tracking of guards
  • RFID scanning for proof of services

Guards were equipped with Motorola mobile devices that not only allow easy and accurate data collection in real-time, but mobile communication.  DecisionPoint also introduced a Device Management solution that allows the customer to monitor key characteristics of the Motorola devices while in the field.
