Automating the Retail “Black Book”

Posted by Erin Hodges On November - 2 - 2010

Empower your sales associates with Enterprise Digital AssistantsIn the retail industry many commissioned sales associates at department stores and specialty fashion stores refer to their book of clients as their “black book.”  This black book of clients poses a problem for many retailers because using a paper system to track customers and past purchases means that when a sales associate leaves, so does all of their client data.  Many retailers have begun automating the “black book” and supplying their sales associates with Enterprise Digital Assistants (EDAs) that not only increase customer satisfaction, but also capture all customer data so that it stays with the retailer.  Some typical applications that run on EDAs and empower sales associates include:

  • Updating and accessing customer profiles
  • Accessing data on sizes and preferences
  • Analyzing past purchases
  • Scheduling appointments
  • Creating customer wish lists
  • Product consultations
  • Automatic recommendations

…And more!  Mobile clienteling solutions empower associates, help increase sales and retain customer loyalty.

Mobile Workforce Management Solutions for Repair Technicians

Posted by Erin Hodges On October - 15 - 2010

Contact DecisionPoint to add a mobile solution to your repair technicians toolboxRepair technicians have multiple tasks throughout the day and paper processes for work orders, parts orders, time sheets and mileage reports can quickly degrade productivity.  With an automated system field technicians receive detailed work orders on mobile devices.  Technicians are able to use their time more effectively by tracking their time worked, completed repairs and mileage—all while on-the-go.  The transmission of detailed repair information right to a mobile device also minimizes the time that dispatchers spend answering questions about specific work orders.  Eliminating paper processes also provides these additional benefits:

  • Immediate reporting-information about completed jobs is logged in real-time
  • Accelerated billing cycles-real-time reporting from the field enables the faster creation of invoices
  • Minimize delays-requests for additional parts can be sent immediately to the parts department

Detailed records can also improve business processes by allowing management to make more informed decisions about ways to better serve customers.

Retail Warehouse Mobility

Posted by Erin Hodges On August - 20 - 2010

Improve accuracy and productivity with mobile warehouse solutionsFrom receiving to picking, there are numerous warehouse mobility solutions that are designed to reduce errors and improve productivity.  Picking in a retail warehouse environment is an important part of your internal supply chain and can dramatically affect customer satisfaction.  Accurate picking operations ensure that your customers receive the right product without any shipping delays.  End-to-end mobility solutions provide the pickers in your retail warehouse with the tools to:

  • Increase speed
  • Improve accuracy
  • Improve output
  • Ensure the correct items are shipped on time

With a mobile computer (or wearable mobile computer) and a mobile printer your employees can scan, verify that the right product was selected and print pick slips and packing slips on the spot.  The mobile device organizes the picking order route to minimize travel through the warehouse and the mobile printer eliminates the need to travel to printers located elsewhere.  Everything is completed right from the warehouse floor in only a few steps— minimizing picking time and maximizing accuracy.

Touchscreen Technology

Posted by Erin Hodges On July - 27 - 2010

Resistive or capacitive, which is right for your application? Contact DecisionPoint Systems to learn more.Touchscreens provide an easy and intuitive way to access information via PC’s, mobile computers and mobile phones.  Today we’re going to take a closer look at the two most popular types of touchscreen technology and provide more information about their capabilities.

  • Resistive Touchscreens-are durable and resistant to water and dust, but can get scratched easily, so you want to make sure you’re not using a sharp object to input data.  They are “passive”, meaning that the screen senses contact with nearly any object.  A Resistive touchscreen responds to pressure on its surface, so they can be used with a finger, stylus, pen or any pointed object that won’t damage the screen.
  • Capacitive Touchscreens-are more durable than resistive touchscreens because they are not only water and dust resistant, but also less likely to get scratched.  Capacitive touchscreens must be touched with an object that emits a constant electric flow, like a finger.  These screens have a very long life, but you’ll have to put away the stylus for this one.
